POLICE are appealing for information after a 19-year-old man was assaulted in Morecambe.

The teenager was at an ATM machine outside the post office on Princes Crescent when he was approached by a man.

In an unprovoked attack, the man punched the teenager in the face, causing him to hit his head on the cash machine and cut his lip, before making off.

It is believed the attacker was with three other men at the time of the assault, although they were not involved in the incident.

The incident happened at about 7.30pm on Saturday, December 11, but details have only just been released.

PC Jonathan Smith said: “I would urge anyone who may have witnessed this assault to contact police. I would also urge three men who were with the offender at the time of the incident to come forward and help us with our enquiries.”

Police said there was no description of the offender other than that he was a white man.
