DISAPPOINTED shoppers were turned away from Morrisons after a power cut forced the store to close.
Customers turning up last Friday teatime were unable to shop or buy petrol.
A spokesperson for Morrisons said: “As soon as the main power supply went down, the store’s back up batteries restored power which allowed us to safely close the store temporarily and transfer chilled or frozen food to mobile units.
“We then brought in a temporary generator to provide power which allowed us to keep trading over the weekend.
“Colleagues from Morecambe and surrounding stores worked hard through the night on Saturday to restock and get the store open Sunday.
“Normal mains power was restored at around 4pm yesterday, Sunday.”
