Have your say

Do you know a young person or a sports person from Morecambe who deserves recognition?

If so then why not nominate them for a Visitor Sunshine Award.

Our nominations for this year’s annual community awards night at the Midland, sponsored by Wright and Lord Solicitors, are open and we are extending the nominating period.

We have had some terrific nominations in the categories of Unsung Hero, Entertainment and Community Group.

And we are now hoping to receive some more in the categories of Young Person and Sport.

Nominees will be invited to the gala Sunshine Ball at the Midland Hotel on Friday, May 1, as our guests for a three-course meal, live entertainment from Stuart Michaels and the main event, the Sunshine Awards ceremony.

Previous winners of Sunshine Awards have included Morecambe motorbike ace John McGuinness, Morecambe FC and Eric Morecambe himself. We also honour ordinary members of the public who have also displayed courage, selflessness, or great
achievement in their
chosen field. For full details of all the categories in the awards and how to nominate, go to our website http://www.thevisitor.co.uk/sunshine-awards.

The nominating period will now close next Tuesday, March 24, and we will then announce our short list.
