A sponsored walk took place to raise funds for the Religious Education Council and to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the organisation.
The walk started from the library in Market Square and followed a route with key locations for accompanying commentary.
Those walking represented the range of interest in Religious Education, with students, parents and school governors, primary and secondary teachers and head teachers, churches, other faith communities, humanists and local politicians taking part.
Locations visited included the Queen Victoria statue. Lancaster Baptist Church, Polish Catholic Church, the Chenrizeg Buddhist Centre, the Chamber of Commerce and Lancaster Islamic Society/Masjid.
Half of the money raised went towards the Religious Education Council to support RE nationally and half was shared locally between the night shelter and homeless centre and interfaith and diversity activities for schools.
To make a donation offline, a cheque can be made out to the Lancaster 40th Anniversary RE walk and sent to RE Council, 14-22 Elder Street, London, E1 6BT.
