Morecambe Football Club are bringing home the pies yet again.

Head chef Graham Aimson and the catering team at MFC are celebrating once again after winning two categories at the 2015 British Pie Awards.

It is the fourth time the club has took home the title for the Football Pie category and the second time for the Dessert Pie.

Mr Aimson, who has been working at the Globe Arena since 2009, said their secret is “good quality ingredients.”

The pastry chef said: “We are over the moon, it is something we never expected to happen.

“We are doing new flavours all the time and it is good publicity for Morecambe football club and the town.

“It is a team effort, we all work together with the pies.”

On a typical match day the team can sell between 600-1,000 pies.

The team are expecting to sell 1,200 pies for the Shrimps last game of the season this weekend.

The seventh annual British Pie Awards took place in Melton Mowbray on April 22 and 23 and this year 830 pies were entered from 131 professional bakers and butchers.

Matthew O’Callaghan, chairman of the British Pie Awards, said: “The standard of entrants this year was higher than ever before, and Morecambe FC can be very proud of its awards.”
