OVER 17,000 gift-filled shoeboxes, many of them from the Morecambe and Lancaster are, were sent to vulnerable children in Belarus, Bosnia, Crimea, Liberia and Montenegro as part of Operation Christmas Child.

The shoeboxes have been donated by individuals, schools, businesses, churches and organisations located in communities including Lancaster, and Morecambe.

Teams of volunteers in the Operation Christmas Child processing centres have worked long hours collecting, checking and loading the shoeboxes for transportation.

Lancashire Regional Manager for Operation Christmas Child, Ian Taylor, said: “We’ve had shoeboxes from all over Lancashire – quite fantastic!
