Lancashire Constabulary today confirmed plans to sell off rural police bases in Over Kellet, Caton, Cowan Bridge, Cabus and Bowgreave.
The cuts are part of £42m savings from the police budget over the next four years.
Following a three month public consultation exercise in which more than 11,000 people gave their views, senior officers have decided to close 14 out of 38 front counters instead of 38 as originally proposed.#
Also in the Northern division, which covers Lancaster and Morecambe, Poulton-le-Fylde police station will close, leaving Neighbourhood Policing officers to work out of the Civic Centre.
Garstang police station’s front desk will close but the building will be kept as a base where police officers will work out of.
Front desks at Lancaster and Morecambe will continue unaffected and Carnforth will be retained as a base where officers will work out of.
