PART of Regent Road and Yorkshire Street was closed this morning after high winds blew down Christmas street decorations.
Police received a call at 5.50am that a cable was hanging in the road.
They were concerned in case a motorcyclist rode into the hanging lights.
Police said they closed the road and contacted the city council.
A spokesperson for Lancaster City Council said: “The lights were taken down and taken back to the depot to be checked over before any plans are made to put them back up.”
The road was reopened by 9am.
