HUNDREDS of thousands of your medical records are kept in a shambolic state at the district’s biggest hospital.
Our photographs show how confidential patient files are stored in a cramped records office at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI). There are files strewn all over the floor, aisleways blocked by piles of folders and reams of loose papers hanging dog-eared out of cubby holes. It looks even messier than a teenager’s bedroom.
A source inside the Royal Lancaster Infirmary said this chaotic office contains three years’ worth of medical and personal information about patients of the RLI and other local hospitals including the Queen Victoria in Morecambe.
