Residents in Heysham are being given crime prevention advice following an increase in daytime burglaries.

Police said the burglars are going round the back of properties and either forcing the patio doors or smashing the glass.

A spokesperson said: “Please try and keep doors and windows secure. Don’t leave garages open where contents can be visible.

“If you see males between the ages of 14-20 that are acting suspiciously in your area please ring it in ‘101.’

“Be a neighbour to your neighbour and keep an eye on their property as well as your own.”

Call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
