CINDERELLA will go to the ball this Christmas after an offer of transport from an unlikely source.

Torrisholme Road Allotments Association will help the fairytale heroine meet up with Prince Charming, by providing her with a pumpkin which, as we all know, will magically turn into a carriage in time for Lancaster Grand Theatre’s pantomime this December!

Cinderella (Laura Tombs) and Fairy Godmother (Jemma Gaskell) judged the association’s annual Hallowe’en pumpkin competition, and chose a pumpkin to use in the panto.

The winner was Paul Harrison, whose pumpkin measured 176 centimetres.

Shows run from December 2 to 28.
