Premier panto opens its doors

Preston’s premier panto Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs has opened its doors and gets set to entertain thousands of children and families this Christmas.

With TV icon Freddie ‘Parrot Face’ Davies as director and comedian Jimmy Cricket taking the lead, there are still some tickets left for the Preston Guild Hall show.

Freddie shot to fame with his ‘Parrotface’ character who became one of Britain best loved comedy characters, appearing in over 500 TV and radio shows with his unique stand-up routine.

In the 90s Freddie began another career as an actor, appearing in many television drama series including Casualty, Heartbeat, Preston Front, Hetty Wainthrop investigates, Band of Gold, Medics, Micky Love, Last of the Summer Wine and two series of Harbour Lights along with appearances on My Family, Born and Bred and Sensitive Skin.

More recently, his appearance as a talking portrait in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Askaban film has brought fan letters from a new worldwide audience.

Famed for his ‘And there’s more’ catchphrase and his trademark wellies, Irishman Cricket Happeared in his own TV show ‘And There’s More’ and his BBC2 radio series ‘Jimmy’s Cricket Team’ during the height of his career in the 1980s.

He featured in The Krankies Klub alongside The Krankies and Bobby Davro and appeared on numerous Royal Variety shows.

Jimmy also was the subject of This Is Your Life in 1987, notable because it was the last edition of the famous programme hosted by legendary presenter Eamonn Andrews.

The cast also includes Jim Whelan, Pete Lindup, Kristina Castellina, Adam Trembath, Yvonne Patterson and The Magnificent Seven.

Performances run until January 3.
