Lancaster and Morecambe Lions Club president and past president dropped in on students at Central Lancaster High School to present an award for the club heat of the Lions International peace poster competition.

President Graham Haddington said: “The Lions peace poster competition is an annual event with entries from countries throughout the world.

“Of course winning prizes is important, but what is even more important is the involvement of young people in thinking about and promoting peace.

“This is the first time we have linked up with Central Lancaster High School for the local heat and we can hope that we will link up with the school for more projects in the future.”

Martin Nesbit, art teacher at Central Lancaster High School said: “The competition has given our Year 7 students a fantastic opportunity to show their talents in art.

“Their creative approach has impressed the judges, making the decision to award prize winners a very difficult task.

“Graham and Rosie have been superb supporters, enthusing the pupils to take part and try their very best.

“We look forward to continuing to work in collaboration with the Lions in encouraging young people to pursue their own talents.”
