OFFICERS are urging members of the public to protest if they want to halt the closure of 45 police stations across Lancashire.
A three-month consultation period, which will explore cost-cutting measures, is due to start next week.
The Police Federation, which is opposed to some of the shutdowns, is pleading with residents to voice their concerns to local MPs.
Under the proposals the Northern Division would keep Lancaster, Morecambe and Fleetwood as they are. Poulton and Cleveleys would both close down and Carnforth would retain an operational base. Over Kellet, Cowan Bridge, Caton, Cabus and Bowgreave would join Cockerham, Preesall and Hambleton on the market. A decision on Garstang’s front desk is to be announced at a later date.
