POLICE have apologised after an officer’s car was caught parked in a supermarket disabled space by a disgusted shopper.
Tracy Mount took a photo of the vehicle at Asda Lancaster because she was so angry that she couldn’t use the space herself. She then reported it to the police, who gave the officer a telling off.
“I am disabled and use sticks and had to park down near where the old petrol station was rather than close to the shop as there was no space, then I found this parked there,” said Mrs Mount.
“There were other empty spaces nearby. It’s a disgrace.”
A police spokesperson said: “It is not acceptable for police vehicles to routinely park in disabled bays and it would only ever be authorised in extreme circumstances.
“The officer involved has been spoken to and the matter dealt with internally. The lady has been contacted and we have apologised for the inconvenience caused.”
