A thug shattered a pub doorman’s jaw with a punch leaving his career on the doors under threat.

The doorman needed a metal plate inserting into his jaw after it was broken in two places by a single blow.

The incident happened as the door supervisor, who has asked not to be named, was working outside Nowhere bar on Queen Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.

His boss Brendan Hughes, owner of ICU Security in Morecambe, said: “His world has been turned upside down.

“He had refused someone entry and was talking to somebody else, standing sideways on in the doorway.

“This person hit him on the side of the head and then casually walked off.

“The injury means he might not be able to carry on working on the doors. If he gets another knock it could move the plate and lead to infection. For the short term he’ll be confined to the office.”

Mr Hughes said ICU would work with the police to bring the culprit to justice.

If anyone witnessed the incident, please contact police on 101 and Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
