Thieves stole cash from a charity box after breaking into a pet supply shop.
Police said that between 5.50pm on Tuesday, May 13 and 8.50am on Wednesday, May 14, thieves broke into Wag Tails on Yorkshire Street in Morecambe, via the back door.
Once inside, a small quantity of cash was removed including some from a donation box for the PDSA.
The thieves also caused extensive damage to parts of the ceiling inside.
PC Ben Hanley, from Lancaster Police, said: “This incident has understandably caused the owners some concern.
“Local communities need small, independent stores like this, who provide invaluable guidance and advice to pet owners.
“The thieves in this case only managed to get away with a small amount of cash, but the repair and cleanup required will undoubtedly impact upon the business.”
“Despite the best efforts of these burglars to conceal their identity, CSI staff have uncovered multiple pieces of forensic evidence from the scene, and will be progressing these with a view to linking them to suspects.
“If any members of the community have any information about this offence or the offenders responsible, I would urge them to come forward and provide it to their local team.”
