ERIC Morecambe’s widow has been reunited with the comedian’s Rolls Royce and former chauffeur on her first visit to her husband’s hometown in over a decade.
Joan Bartholomew and son Gary were driven on a tour of Eric’s old stomping grounds by her old friend and employee Mike Fountain.
Mrs Bartholomew, 86, had not been inside the silver Rolls since 1974 when the Morecambe and Wise star sold it. The vehicle was recently restored by Carnforth wedding car specialist Peter Yates.
Joan and Gary stayed at the Midland Hotel and visited the Winter Gardens, where Eric first performed as a 12-year-old in 1938.
It was Joan’s first trip to Morecambe since the statue of her husband was unveiled by the Queen in 1999.
