The Olympic torch has arrived in the Morecambe and Lancaster district.

The people of Carnforth were the first to welcome the torch and they turned out in force despite the heavy rain.

Young and old alike waved their Union flags as the flame passed through the town on day 35 of the route exactly half way through it’s 70 day journey to the Olympic stadium.

Cllr Alycia James, who represents Warton said: “It may have been wet but it certainly didn’t dampen any spirits.

“Everyone’s come out and been very enthusiastic about it and given it a great reception.”
