Pat Jones had an unusual house guest over the weekend – an octopus.

Pat found the eight-armed sea creature in shallow water off the Promenade at Regent Road and brought it back to her Yorkshire Street home for a few days.

Sarah Neill from British Divers Marine Life Rescue said: “It looks like a lesser octopus.

“I’m really surprised it has stayed in the bucket. They are really intelligent and great escape artists. People have to be careful because they can give you a nasty bite.”

Pat kept the octopus in a bucket of sea water and contacted The Visitor so we could take a photograph, before returning it to the bay.
