Looking Back: Rig look at Heysham Harbour

Visitor reader Paul Coxhill allowed us to delve into his internet collection of old Morecambe pictures.

Mr Coxhill took these pictures when he was working as the rig well services engineer.

The Western Apollo II was in the harbour for servicing.

When the picture was taken Mr Coxhill was waiting to go out and start drilling around the Morecambe Gas Field.

One view from the rig shows the old Heysham Head entertainment venue.
