We had a great response to last week’s look back at the history of the old Visitor building.

Hughie Park sent us this cracking photo of him and his colleague Graham Charlson dismantling the old clock.

As you can see, this was in the pre-health and safety days!

Not sure of the exact date. 1970s?

The other picture, right, is of the laying of the foundation stone for The Visitor building in 1929.

This was a hugely prestigious and ceremonial occasion.

Then editor and proprietor Arthur Caunt is at the centre, performing the deed.

The photo belongs to Evelyn Thompson of Lancaster. Her late husband Joe, as a boy, can be seen front right.
