An exhibition paying homage to Morecambe’s great railway heritage will steam into town later this month.

‘Next Stop...Morecambe!’ will be a nostalgic look at the history of the town’s rail network and the days when thousands would travel to the resort by train for their holidays.

This display of Morecambe railway memorabilia will be held at the Morecambe Heritage Centre near the Winter Gardens and will open on Saturday, January 16.

The exhibition will then be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 4pm for a limited period.

Admission is £2. Accompanied children go free. The curator is Rob Daniels.

The Morecambe Heritage Centre, run by volunteers, opened in 2015.

Its debut exhibition was a display of old-time entertainment memorabilia by collector Ken Bowe.

Visitors to the centre last year included Eric Morecambe’s widow Joan, his daughter Gail and son Gary.
