A NEW minister who has been appointed to two churches says he is looking forward to the different challenges that await him.
Rev Graham Maskery is now minister for Christ Church, Broadway and Sefton Road URC Church in the West End of Morecambe after spending nine years in York.
He said: “I like the challenge of two different churches. Sefton Road URC and Christ Church URC are quite different.
“Sefton Road is a traditional URC with a strong musical tradition and Christ Church has shown a strong liturgical tradition.
“I’ve received a warm welcome and a very positive welcome from the parishioners.”
Mr Maskery, 55, was seven or eight when he decided he wanted to be a minister.
He said: “I was dyslexic and found study very difficult, I hated school. I started enquiring about the ministry.
“Someone told me I would never make a minister - but I believed that was what God wanted me to be.
“It wasn’t an easy journey through university but with support and encouragement I managed it.”
