WHILE I am writing this the sun is shining and the weather is glorious but I expect by the time it is printed normal service will have been restored to our weather.
Nevertheless, this week I thought we should have a look at the options available to people suffering with hay fever.
Hay fever is caused by an over-reaction by the immune system to inhaled pollen, causing high amounts of histamine to be produced in the body, and can lead to runny noses, itchy eyes, sneezing and general misery for sufferers throughout the summer months.
Orthodox remedies are usually anti-histamines, to reduce histamine levels and therefore get rid of the uncomfortable symptoms. However, these can have side effects which include drowsiness and you are not supposed to drink alcohol while taking them.
