Music memories at Lancaster University

A NEW exhibition at Lancaster University brings together film footage, memorabilia, posters and artists’ responses to music, particularly rock, punk and noise.

Was I There? at the Peter Scott Gallery features original promotional posters from gigs that took place at the uni in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and documents the events that happened.

Alongside posters of acts such as The Damned, AC/DC and John Cooper Clarke to name a few, are other artefacts which seem authentic, but ask us to question: “Did this really happen? Was I there?”

The posters by artist and curator John Angus are joined with work from Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, Juneau Projects and Jamie Shovlin in a show that looks at fact, fabrication and a sometimes hazy recollection of music history.

The free public opening starts at 6.30pm on Tuesday, November 22.
