A mum is warning online shoppers to beware after she fell victim to a scam.

Natalie Jackson, 25, of Nether Kellet, was conned out of £277 whilst selling her Ford Galaxy on eBay.

She was contacted by a man who said he was interested in buying her car.

He asked her to deposit £277 via Western Union to pay an agent to come and pick the car up for him.

Then he would pay the balance owed on the car, which was for sale for £700.

However, the man then asked for another £400 which Natalie refused to pay.

She then realised she had been scammed.

Natalie said: “I just want to warn other people to stop them making the mistake I did.

“I had to borrow the money from my mum, which has now been lost and I still have to pay her back. I have three young children, one with special needs, and money is tight at the best of times.

“I feel really stupid that I have fallen for this. I also feel bad for my mum because she lent me the money.

“I feel annoyed but really I was lucky it was only that amount - other people might not be so lucky.”

Action Fraud, the UK’s national reporting centre for fraud and financially motivated crime, confirmed Natalie had reported the scam to them and it is currently being investigated.
