“This has restored my faith in humanity.”

These were the words of delighted mum Helen Day after a Morecambe company gave her an early Christmas present.

Plas Tech installed a brand new front door for Helen free of charge after her old one was slashed beyond repair by a man wielding a samurai sword.

The Visitor’s front page story two weeks ago told how Helen and her two daughters cowered inside her terraced house on Cross Street as the man hacked a gaping hole in the front door. It is believed he targeted their address by mistake while looking for somebody else’s house.

“He didn’t come into the house but he could have done because the front door was unlocked,” said Helen at the time.

John Corcoran, general manager of the windows and doors specialists, said he read about the Days’ plight in The Visitor and decided to help out.
