Our #SOSMorecambe – Support Our Shops campaign has been backed in the highest corridors of power.

Six MPs signed an Early Day Motion in Parliament put in by David Morris, MP for Morecambe, commending The Visitor for running the campaign to give Morecambe shops and small businesses a voice.

It says: “This House notes that The Visitor newspaper is embarking on a campaign to Support Our Shops (SOS Morecambe); further notes that the SOS Morecambe campaign seeks to encourage those living in Morecambe to visit local shops and discover the wide variety of local businesses that are available in Morecambe; further notes that the campaign encourages the opening of new businesses in Morecambe; commends The Visitor for this campaign; and requests the whole community to join it in rejuvenating the town of Morecambe.”

The EDM gained cross-party support from all over the country.

Those who signed the EDM included Labour MPs David Crausby of Bolton North East, Jim Cunningham of Coventry South, Jim Dobbin of Heywood and Middleton, John McDonell on Hayes and Harlington, and Alan Meale of Mansfield, and the Respect party’s George Galloway of Bradford West.
