A caring schoolgirl did the junior Great North Run in memory of a friend who died suddenly.
Morgan Bower, 10, a pupil at St Peter’s C of E School in Heysham, wanted to raise as much money as possible for her friend Emily Hood’s charity called Emily’s Starlite.
Emily, also a pupil at St Peter’s, passed away suddenly last October.
Morgan decided in December last year that because Emily had taken part in the run last year Morgan also wanted to do it.
Morgan’s mum Lisa, of Heysham, said: “We cannot thank everyone enough that sponsored her.
“Emily was such a beautiful talented girl who certainly left us all with some amazing memories.
“Morgan enjoyed every minute of the race.
“Morgan and her brother Ace will run the race each year in memory of Emily.”
Andy Hood, Emily’s dad, said: “We’d like to say thank you to Morgan for a fantastic effort.
We are very proud of her and Emily would be overwhelmed by what she has done for her.”
