Morecambe traders to vote on shops bid

SHOPKEEPERS in Morecambe will be asked to back the BID to support the town’s retail future.

The town’s traders will be invited to vote on creating a Business Improvement District (BID) in the resort to generate a pot of money to spend on enhancing the town’s shopping sector.

A BID is a defined geographical area within a town or city where traders pay a small amount extra on their business rates.

Lancaster City Council has put aside £40,000 for preparatory work on the BID to take place this year.
