ONE of the town’s best-loved personalities and a stalwart of Morecambe FC has died suddenly, aged 68.

Ken Parker, former Shrimps chairman, life vice-president and successful businessman, was found dead in his bed on Saturday after concerned club colleagues went to his home when he failed to turn up for Morecambe’s match with Burton Albion.

Mr Parker was renowned for hosting the club’s half-time entertainment, the Open the Box draw, and was former owner of the Cumberland View car dealership.

Tributes have been flooding in for a very popular man who was described by one friend as “ahead of his time”.
