Morecambe MP to support Stephen Crabb in Tory leadership bid

Morecambe MP David Morris has said he will no longer stand in the Tory leadership battle and will instead support work and pensions secretary Stephen Crabb.

Mr Morris said this week that he would “throw hiw hat in the ring” if he did not like any of the candidates, adding that if he did not feel things were right, he would be “willing to take the bull by the horns”.

Mr Morris has now said he will support Mr Crabb, MP for Preseli Pembrokeshire, who has previously been a government whip, a junior minister for Wales and the Secretary of State for Wales.

It is expected that Sajid Javid, the business minister, will stand with him in his leadership bid.

If Crabb wins, he will become Prime Minister, with Javid becoming Chancellor.
