CLIMBING the north face of the Eiger is one of the great challenges of mountaineers worldwide.
This month an army climbing instructor from Morecambe will try to ascend the treacherous Alpine peak known as the “Death Wall”.
Dylan Musgrave, of Sanders Grove, was inspired to tackle the 6,000ft high face of the 13,000ft high Swiss mountain by those who went before him and failed in tragic circumstances.
Although many mountaineers have successfully climbed the Eiger’s north face, at least 64 climbers have died trying since 1935 earning the peak the nickname Mordwand - or “Death Wall”.
