AN awards ceremony recognising some of the town’s top achievers and a carnival-style celebration in the town centre will be the highlights of The Visitor’s Morecambe Day weekend.
Now in its third year, Morecambe Day was launched by The Visitor as a way for people to come together to mark the birthday of Eric Morecambe and to recognise the things we love about our town.
The celebrations begin this Friday night (May 13) when we hold our annual Sunshine Awards Dinner and Ball at the Midland Hotel. Six awards will be presented on the night and there will be live music, a prize auction and raffle.
Then this Saturday (May 14) a packed programme of entertainment will centre around the Arndale Centre and the Eric Morecambe Statue The fun starts at 10.30am at the Arndale and at the statue at around noon.
See The Visitor (11-05-11) for full story.
