The team at a Morecambe bistro are toasting being named the best in England and Wales.
Aspect Bar and Bistro beat 27 other finalists at the England and Wales Food Awards held at Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel.
The bistro, based at the Lothersdale Hotel on Marine Road, has only been open for 18 months.
The awards recognise the efforts of England and Wales restaurants, bistros, gastro pubs, hotel restaurants, cafes and takeaways.
The black tie awards night was hosted by Miss United Kingdom Supranational Rachelle Perez.
The event also helped raise funds for Make A Wish Foundation UK granting magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses.
Paul Bury, manager of the Lothersdale and Aspect, said: “It was a fantastic evening and a brilliant honour for us, taking the top prize against such tough competition.
“As well as the quality of our food and drinks, I’m sure the bistro’s location is a major factor in our popularity with guests.
“The award is deserved recognition for our wonderful kitchen and front of house team during 2014, including head chef, Gavin Riley, restaurant manager, Ed Selman, and our development chef, Ian Harrington.”
The bistro, which offers a full restaurant-style menu featuring a range of locally sourced produce including Morecambe Bay Shrimps, as well as tapas and cocktails, and stunning views across Morecambe Bay, is now looking forward to a busy Christmas and New Year, with special menus created for the festive weeks.
The Lothersdale marked its 60th anniversary last year by acquiring three-star status.
Operated by the Bury family since 1953, it became only the third hotel in Morecambe to be classed as three stars or better, alongside the Clarendon and the Midland hotels.
The Lothersdale was bought by William and Mary Bury in 1953 and Paul Bury is their grandson.
