Morecambe singer Ashleigh Wood is releasing a cover to the song ‘Bring Me Sunshine.’
It’s a dream come true for Morecambe singer Ashleigh Wood who has released a new video for her hometown.
Titled the ‘new face of Morecambe’ Ashleigh is releasing a cover to the song ‘Bring Me Sunshine’ made famous by Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise.
The 22-year-old singer is transported from a rainy promenade as she takes a ‘selfie’ with the Eric Morecambe statue and dances with Paul Frith in glorious sunshine.
Paul, who likes to paint himself all black to resemble the Eric landmark, joins Ashleigh in her music video which is filmed along the promenade and at Happy Mount Park.
The ‘Bring Me Sunshine’ video will be released on August 24 and will be used to promote the area as a tourism destination.
Ashleigh said: “It’s a great honour for someone like me, at the start of my career to be associated with such a loved and respected star of show business.
“I am so grateful for the support I have received from all the local people during the creation of the video.”
Ashleigh was invited to sing the song at the Eric Morecambe Tribute Dinner at the Globe Arena, the home of Morecambe FC.
She has been invited back to sing the song again at the Shrimps opening game.
