Woman found hurt near bridge
The scene near the river bridge this morning.
A WOMAN has been taken to hospital after she was found with serious leg injuries on the river bank near Carlisle Bridge in Lancaster.
Emregency services were called to the scene close the bridge – which carries trains over the River Lune – at just after 8am on Friday, July 13.
Police said the 20-year-old woman was found on grass with leg injuries, but that it had yet to be established how she had got there.
Crew manager Mark Cookson, of Lancaster Fire Station, said crews helped paramedics lift the woman off the bank and onto a stretcher.
“She had suffered significant leg injuries, but she was conscious and breathing,” said Mr Cookson.
The woman was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary by ambulance.
Police closed the bridge to pedestrians.
