AN arts team from Lancaster University has been drafted in to help decide who gets festival grants in Morecambe in 2013.

The uni’s Lancaster Institute for Contemporary Arts (LICA) will evaluate the impact of the 2012 programme of live entertainment events in the town to help Morecambe Town Council determine who gets cash next year.

The town council helped to pay for 24 festivals this year – including the Tutti Frutti 1950s event, the Nice ‘n’ Sleazy punk festival and Steve Middlesbrough’s Morecambe Live series.

The council is now seeking applications from organisations wishing to organise festivals and events in 2013.

Application forms may be obtained from David Croxall, town clerk, on 01524 422929 or by e-mail at clerk@morecambe.gov.uk or from the Town Council’s website HERE

The closing date is Friday, September 7.
