A children’s charity has been recognised for its work for the third time in a matter of months.
Unique Kidz and Co, based near Lancaster, has beaten off competition from dozens of social enterprises in Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cumbria and Cheshire to be announced as the Small Social Enterprise of the Year by Social Enterprise North West (SENW), the lead body for social enterprises in the region.
The award winners were announced at an awards ceremony in Blackpool.
Unique Kidz and Co provides specialist services for disabled children, young people and their families, including after school and holiday childcare.
The charity was the first in Lancashire to offer after school and holiday childcare specifically for disabled children and has grown rapidly since it was formed by friends Jane Halpin and Denise Armer, who both have children with special needs.
It now provides services to more than 130 children.
Co-Founder Jane Halpin said: “We are delighted and honoured to have won this award which recognises the valuable and varied work undertaken by fantastic social enterprises across the region.”
Denise Armer, Co-Founder, said: “This award is recognition for everything we have achieved and the impact our services have on families with disabled children.”
