Tributes to darts ‘legend’
Jeanette Capstick.
A much-loved darts “legend” married just days before passing away.
Jeanette Capstick, formerly Marsden, tied the knot with long-term partner David at St John’s Hospice last Wednesday before losing a three-year battle with cancer on Saturday at the age of 54.
The local darts stalwart was chair of the Morecambe Ladies Darts League and the resort’s mixed league as well as running the Morecambe Ladies Super League team that travelled around the county.
Her proudest moment however was representing Lancashire on three occasions.
Friend Julie Carradus, secretary of the ladies league, said: “She was everybody’s friend. She was always very strict with the rules but listened to your side of the story. She had to reign me in a few times!
“She became a legend winning the league with St Mary’s nine times in a row, and 14 times in all.”
“I think she won every single ladies cup.”
Jeanette played the game she loved and served until a few months before her death, latterly representing The Globe.
She is survived by a son David.
Her funeral will be held at Lancaster and Morecambe Crematorium on Friday, March 1 at 3.30pm.
