Toilets cause stink
A TOILET block in Middleton earmarked for demolition ten years ago is still causing a stink amongst villagers.
Residents say the toilets on Carr Lane, which have been locked up for at least ten years, are a focal point for youths who play football, leave cans and bottles there, and climb on the roof, which could be unsafe.
Clerk to Middleton Parish Council, Barbara Williams, said: "It's a disgrace - it's just revolting.
"PCSO Linda Willis has worked tirelessly to get it down for us, but we just haven't got the money.
"The local kids don't need to play football there, as we have a large green and also a big playing field, so there is no excuse for them to be using this toilet to play near.
"The toilets are right next to residential houses - people just want to sit and relax and they can't.
"I'm really infuriated. It's just horrid.
"People have threatened to get a bulldozer and bulldoze it."
A spokesperson for Lancaster City Council said: "We are aware of the issues surrounding the toilets in Middleton and are currently investigating who is responsible for them.
"Until ownership is established, the council will secure the site with anti-climb fencing."
