AN RAF Seaking helicopter took part in a training exercise with the RNLI’s Morecambe inshore lifeboat and hovercraft in Morecambe bay.

The government is planning to outsource the UK search and Rescue helicopters currently being provided by the RAF and Fleet Air Arm and by contractors for the HMCG by the middle of 2017.

Three companies remain in the running for the £3bn contract, Bond Offshore Helicopters, Bristow Group and CHC.

AgustaWestland, Eurocopter and Sikorsky are hoping that they will be able to provide platforms for the the successful bidder for the £3bn contract.
