Most people celebrate their 30th birthdays with a night out on the tiles or a party with family and friends.

But not intrepid duo Tracy Hartley and Rose Buckler-Brown, who plan to do a triathalon, a 10k run in Lancaster, a cross bay walk, a 25k walk, the Great North Run, a 16.7m road race around Coniston Water and a 10-mile obstacle course in the Lake District – all in the same year!

Tracy and Rose have decided to take on an endurance challenge per month in the run up to turning 30.

They want to raise money for two good causes close to their hearts.

In 2008, Tracy’s mum Linda Hartley, a teacher at Morecambe Community High School, became paralysed from the waist down due to a spinal condition called Transverse Myelitis.

Tracy wants to raise funds for the Spinal Injuries Association, who have helped her mum with support and advice.

Her friend Rose is raising money for the Stroke Association. Her grandfather John suffered a stroke in October 2012.

Tracy and Rose have already completed a three-hour ‘Spinathon’ on exercise bikes in February and a triathalon in Kendal on March 3.

Next they will take part in the Lancaster Three Bridges 10k in April, the Great Manchester Run in May, the 25k Moonlight Walk in June, a cross bay walk in July, the Total Warrior obstacle course in August, the Great North Run in September and the Coniston Challenge in October.

They are also organising a charity night on June 22 and a special ‘Wheelathon’ on Morecambe promenade on April 21, where people are invited to take part in a 5k wheelchair event from Happy Mount Park to the Battery. This starts at 2pm and entry is £5.

If you would like to help the fund-raising effort, please contact either Tracy (07891708564 tracyhartley30@hotmail.com) or Rose (07921067526 rosebuckler@hotmail.com).
