THE most frightening festival ever to come to Morecambe will include a sponsored walk along the prom...by hundreds of people dressed as zombies!

Zombieville will take over the town from October 19 to 21 for three days of live music, dance and even a zombie charity ‘crawl’ in aid of Cancer Care.

Billed as ‘The Weekend of the Weird’, the event will combine horror, humour, live music and the town’s best local talent.

Zombieville is the brainchild of events promoter and DJ, Steve Middlesbrough.

“This is a brand new autumn weekend event in Morecambe to attract people into the town,” said Steve.

“It’s something a bit different where we can have a bit of fun and capitalise on the current popularity of all things zombie. Someone even told me ‘zombies’ are the third most popular search term on Google.

“It will cater for adults and kids who love dressing up, and we want people to join in. If you’ve got any ideas, get in touch.

“The weirder the better. We’ve even got one guy who’s building papier mache coffins!”

Smokey O’Connor’s pub will be the main venue, featuring live music from Idol Minds, Underwater Gunfight, Brendan Cleary, Phoenix Down, Blood Yard and Sam King.

Guests of Zombieville can come all dressed up or take advantage of a makeover from the Zombie FX team, and there will be prizes for the best dressed zombies on a special ‘Zombie Oscars’ night.

For more information or to volunteer to take part in Zombieville, call Shaun Dredd (Steve’s zombie alter-ego) on 077716 92626 or come to the next Zombieville organising meeting on Friday, August 17 at Smokeys at 8pm.
