Fashion festival dumps Winter Gardens
Winter Gardens Morecambe
MYSTERY surrounds the decision by organisers of a major fashion festival to move their event from Morecambe’s Winter Gardens.
The beautiful old theatre on Morecambe promenade was originally announced as the location for the British Fashion Week launch weekend from August 30 to September 1 2013.
But organisers have changed their minds and moved the trade event to Crewe Hall, a four-star hotel in Cheshire.
A spokesperson for British Fashion Week would not give a reason for the decision but said they still intended to hold a vintage fashion event at Morecambe’s Midland Hotel.
Evelyn Archer, chair of the theatre’s owners the Winter Gardens Preservation Trust, said she did not know why the event had been moved.
The launch would have included exhibits from fashion labels, catwalks and workshops.
