Donate your bras for charity

WOODS of Morecambe is asking women to delve into their drawers for their unwanted bras to support a Big Bra Amnesty.

The lingerie specialist is running the campaign, which will end on the evening of the Lancaster and Morecambe Moonlight Walk on Saturday, June 5, for the second year running.

Collected bras will be sent to women who need the garments in developing countries around the world.

Fifty pence will also be donated to the ward refurbishment of St John's Hospice for each bra donated.

Last year the amnesty received almost 1,000 bras and shop manager Joanne English is aiming even higher:

"There was a real feeling from so many women last year that this was a great campaign for a great cause, so we were really keen to do it again.

"Hopefully we'll collect more bras this time around and raise more money for St. John's Hospice too, we're all fired up to make sure that it's an even bigger and better Big Bra Amnesty for 2010."

To take part, collect a Big Bra Amnesty label from Woods or St John's Hospice. Women can then complete the label and hand it in with any unwanted bras.

Labels are also being sent out in entry packs for this year's Moonlight Walk.

Until the walk on June 5, labels can be delivered to the Woods shop on the promenade opposite the clock tower, or to St John's Hospice on Slyne Road. There will also be a special collection point on the Moonlight Walk.
