The North West Air Ambulance in flight
A CYCLIST was airlifted to hospital after a crash in which he sustained serious head and neck injuries.
The 45-year-old was cycling along the A683 Heysham bypass on Tuesday teatime when he crashed into a HGV lorry.
He was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital for treatment but the North West Ambulance Service said although his injuries were serious, they were not thought to be life threatening.
Police said the Overton roundabout was closed off to traffic whilst the air ambulance landed.
