Couple threatened with knife during Morecambe robbery

A Morecambe couple were threatened with a knife during a “terrifying” robbery in their own home.

A man called at an address on Scafell Avenue and asked the owners if they wanted to buy a gold ring at around 7.45pm on Monday, January 29.

When they refused the man made his way into the house and threatened the couple with a knife, demanding £30 for the ring.

The woman handed over the money and the man, wearing dark clothing with his face covered, fled leaving the ring at the house.

The couple weren’t injured but were left shaken by the incident.

Detective Inspector Gareth Willis said: “This was a terrifying incident for the couple involved and I would appeal to anyone who has any information about it to contact police.

“In particular if any neighbours saw anybody suspicious hanging around or if this man knocked on their door then I would ask them to come forward.”

Call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
