The body of a man found in the Lune Estuary is that of missing Lancaster man Gareth Parker, police have confirmed.
Mr Parker’s body was discovered by a dog walker in marshland on the outskirts of Stodday village, Lancaster, on Wednesday afternoon (February 19).
An investigation is underway and a post-mortem examination will take place to establish the cause of death.
A police spokesman said the death was being treated as unexplained and was not thought to be suspicious at this time.
Mr Parker, 33, left his home on Barley Cop Lane, Lancaster at around 10pm on January 15 and had not been seen since.
“His family have been informed and specially trained officers are offering support to them,” said the spokesman.
“Our thoughts are with Gareth’s family and friends at this tragic time.”
